Running a marathon for refugees.
Lucy Pitt
My Story
I have been to Greece and worked with refugees caught in the humanitarian crisis. I worked with Kitrinos and would like to raise money for the charity.
We were a small team of nurses and a doctor from Brighton who first went to Greece in 2016. We worked on the Greek-Macedonian border in a refugee camp of about 10,000 people. We arrived soon after the borders closed so were there at a crisis point. Over the last few years the need has changed. But what remains the same is the human suffering.
I have never run a marathon before. I’ll be slow. It will be very hard. But I really want to raise money and awareness for the people who are still suffering and still unable to live their lives.
While we were in Greece and on subsequent visits we made many friends from around the world. I would like to raise some money for this charity that gave us the opportunity to work and use our skills during the on going humanitarian crisis.
